metelkova mesto, ein alternatives kulturzentrum auf dem gelände der ehemaligen militärbaracken der jugoslawischen volksarmee. und wie mir igor erzählt, gilt es als hip in der international community, im dort gelegenen gefängnis (das mittlerweile zu einem hotel umgebaut wurde) zu übernachten. leider hatte ich keine bei meinem aufenthalt keine gelegenheit, mich im kulturzentrum ein wenig umzuschauen. ganz fest für nächstes mal vorgenommen !ein ganz spezielles gefühl beim lesen der texte von metelkova, fühle mich ein wenig an die zeiten der arena erinnert:
10th Anniversary of Autonomous Cultural Center City of Metelkova!
9th - 14th of September 2003
Between 9th and 14th of September 2003 at 10th anniversary of occupation/liberation of former army barracs complex Friskovec on Metelkova street central anniversary festivities will take place. We are celebrating ten year long turbulent history of a very special space, which established itself as a synonym for struggle for autonomy, but at the same time in spite of impetuous escalation of events in past three years also a space that got much more acknowledgement and media attention abroad than at home. Autonomous Cultural Center Metelkova Mesto (City of Metelkova) is one of the biggest autonomous social/cultural/political centers in the world – area wise as well as in regard of its heterogeneous activities. Its status is partly contract regulated, yet a part of it is still an illegal squat.
On this website you can have a look at the anniversary programme in all Metelkova places as well as precise timetable of events. Following anniversary programme there is a list of all paralel actions associated activities (Modern Gallery, Slovenian Ethnografic Museum) and some guidelines, directions and 'house' rules so that the freedom of movement won't be too tiring.
