zur website des museums ...

als ich mich zu einer gruppe von exponaten herabbeuge, taucht das gesicht eines mädchens neben mir auf, das die in der glasvitrine ausgestellte köpfe aus ton ebenfalls betrachtet. die ähnlichlkeit der profile und gesichtszüge der beiden: leicht entrückt, vielleicht ein wenig überheblich. so als ob beide leise lächelten über die neugier des touristischen blickes.
ein letztes mal begegnen wir der kindergruppe im patio des museumskomplexes. die kinder sitzen im schatten der arkaden, entlang der rückwärtigen wand und verschlingen ihre jausenbrote. eines der mädchen winkt mir zu, freundlich und neugierig auf die welt.

the museo chileno de arte precolombino -housed in what used to be the edificio de la real aduana, santiagi - was inaugurated in december 1981. it is renowned for its stunning collection of precolumbian art from throughout the americas (...) and is considered to be one of the most important museums of its kind in the world.
the permanent exhibition covers an extensive time period - from the beginnings of pottery and textile production in the americas up to the arrival of the european conquistadors. its aim is to portray the diversity of the precolombian peoples regardless of the political boundaries of the nations that divide them today. the collection includes ceramic and metal objects, finely woven textiles, and a variety of pieces made of wood and other materials (text des museumsfolders).
