this daring and ingenious construction of nineteenth-century architecture, the history of
antonelli´s dream and most glorious achievement, the
mole, as it is familiarly known by turin inhabitants, dates back to 1862 when the jewish community in turin purchased the site in via montebello (then the "contrada" of the "cannon dóro") and decided to erect a synagogue to celebrate their emancipation by carlo alberto, explains a leaflet available in the entrance room of the building. mole antonelliana nowadays hosts a breathtaking elevator to the top of the building and a partly strange cinema museum.
